Holiday cards for heroes

RENO, Nev. ( & KRNV) -- Nevada's active military overseas will be receiving personal hand-written holiday cards on Christmas day from their family and friends in the community. Reno City Councilman Oscar Delgado is hosting the initiative with the help of the Nevada National Guard.

"Our hope is to give some thank you's, some great wishes and holiday wishes on behalf of their community that cares deeply about them and appreciates what they do for us," said Councilman Delgado.

More than 50 cards were made from students and community members of Dodson Elementary school, and even more cards were made today at the Veterans Guest House. Any donations are accepted besides holiday cards, like homemade cookies, or a few dollars to help with the postal fees.

"Whatever you got please bring them on down, we'll send them out on Monday morning to make sure it gets in their hands when the holidays come around," said Councilman Delgado.

The deadline for donations will be Monday, December 21st at 10am at the White Rabbit Office, located at 5450 Riggins Court, Suite 3, Reno, NV 89502.
