Elko Child Endangerment Arrest

An Elko mother described as homeless has been arrested on suspicion of child endangerment after authorities report three young children living in a van on Park Road. Sheriff’s Lt. Kevin McKinney said 27-year-old Codi Miller does not take the 6 and 7-year-old children to school regularly and that when she does, school officials report them as being “dirty, hungry, thirsty and tired.” A third child is two years old. Authorities say the family has stayed with friends and been evicted from various motels for several months. Social workers and non-profit agencies have reportedly been working with the family since last year. Miller was booked into the Elko County Jail, the children were taken into protective custody.
