Sen. McCain 'pleased' about special prosecutor, says Russia investigation still needed

Sen. McCain 'pleased' about special prosecutor, says Russia investigation still needed (Sinclair Broadcast Group)

WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) - Sen. John McCain (R- Ariz.) said he's pleased about former FBI Director Robert Mueller being appointed as a special prosecutor to investigate allegations of coordination between Russia and Donald Trump's campaign during the Russian election.

But that's not all the senator wants.

"That does not change the responsibilities of the Congress to develop policies and actions in order to respond to Russian attempts to change the outcome of our election," he told Sinclair Broadcast Group.

"We still need a select committee in my view, to review all of the actions the Russians have taken and what we need to do in response."

When asked if President Donald Trump's reaction calling the developments a "witch hunt" on Twitter was a surprise, McCain simply responded, "no."
